This Super Bowl Squares contest is a free, online game created by your commissioner.

While there are some common scoring rules across different contests, we give contest commissioners the freedom to create their own rules for their squares contest.

Whether you’re new to the concept or a seasoned squares aficionado, we've found it's best to make sure you're familiar with the specific rules of your contest, so you know exactly what to cheer for when watching the game.

The rules are simple and easy to understand. Everybody gets a square that represents the score at the end of each quarter, half and game. Let’s say the Patriots (AFC) are defeating the Seahawks (NFC) 13-0 at the end of the first quarter of the Super Bowl. In this example, the winner for the first quarter would be the person who had the box corresponding to the last digits of the current score. Where the Patriots (AFC) scored 13 points and the Seahawks (NFC)scored 0. So the winning box is Patriots (AFC) 3 and Seahawks (NFC) 0.

Winner of the game: 20% (500) of the total pot
Winner of the half: 10% (250) of the total pot
Winner of the first quarter: 10% (250) of the total pot
Winner of the third quarter: 10% (250) of the total pot
Leaving 50% (1250) to the charity!
