About the Super Bowl Pool Site
I built the Super Bowl Pool Site (SBPS) over a decade ago in the months leading up to the 2007 Super Bowl.
After years of operating an annoyingly inefficient annual squares contest that required countless emails, excel spreadsheets, and basic periodic website updates to post the latest grid boxes, I took it upon myself to spend hundreds of hours coding an entirely new approach -- a fully automated, self-service online grid contest system.
What became SBPS was initially intended simply to serve as the website interface for only one single contest -- my annual pool. After putting in all the work and making it function properly, I decided to open up the interface to anyone else who shared the same frustrations I did, expecting maybe a couple of takers would come along on the ride with me.
Since its inception, SBPS has hosted tens of thousands of grid contests, providing entertainment for over a million participants. I still spend many hours a week, even during the offseason, improving the site per the requests of the user community.
The overwhelming majority of the features on the SBPS site today came directly from complaints, criticisms, and simple requests from users just like you, and I am grateful that you've done your part to make SBPS what it is today. Keep up the good work, and I'll do my best to continue enhancing the experience.
I'm proud to say that my site has helped hundreds and hundreds of charities around the world - from Little League sports teams to medical fundraisers - by providing a mechanism for people to quickly get contests up and running in minutes and collect large sums of money to support their respective projects.
Thanks again for making this a success along with me.
